Se pointer

Today’s word (two words, actually), se pointer, has a simple meaning: “to show up”. It is colloquial, so in a serious context you should rather use a word like arriver. It has nothing to do with the meanings of pointer: “to point”, “to point out”,”to clock in/out”.

Il s’est pointé avec une heure de retard.
He showed up one hour late.
